Program Goals
The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI) conducted a two-year Major Investment Study (MIS) for the Eastern Corridor to identify a framework for addressing long-term transportation needs. Completed in 1999, the MIS outlined the Corridor’s transportation needs. It also established four goals to guide the development, evaluation and eventual implementation of a recommended plan to address those needs:
- Encompass an effective, multi-modal approach
- Provide support for local and regional economic goals
- Provide a balanced consideration of impacts and environmental protection
- Carefully consider land use during detailed analyses and implementation
The Eastern Corridor MIS recommendations were formally adopted by OKI in April 2000 and continue to be actively being used to guide the development of the Eastern Corridor transportation improvement projects.
